The term intermediary refers to a person who existed before the Zamindari abolition Act. It was called by different names Zamindar, Taluqdar,Zagirdar. They were not irrigating but were only entitled to collect the rent. Section 3(12) defines the term intermediary. It means a proprietor, a sub – proprietor, under – proprietor, permanent tenure holders and thekedar.
