What is Geneva convention?

Geneva Convention is a  series of international treaties concluded in Geneva between 1864 to 1949. Some protocol were also approved in 1949,1977 and 2005.

History:

The development of Geneva Convention was associated with Red Cross. Founder of Red Cross was Henry Dunant who initiated  international negotiations regarding the condition of wounded soldiers during war.  He witnessed the aftermath of the battle of solferino. He was horrified by the sight of thousand of wounded soldiers in the war field then he called International agreements to be drawn up to protect the wounded soldiers.

First Geneva Convention:

Geneva Switzerland twelve Nation enacted the countries are the wanted in army field this was well known as Red Cross countries .

Aim:
Convention relate to the protection of civilians persons in time of War it addressed how to treat a civilian in a war zone he should be treated without violence with humanity and respect to his rights.The emblem of Red cross changed into Red Crystal in third protocol 2005.
